さようなら / A sky with no stars

Silently they walk
a foot of space in between
stale air all around.

By her door she stops
faces him with a mock smile
when she wants to cry.

At her he gazes
his eyes brimming with sadness
that he mustn’t show.

Needed are no words
as the moon and the lamppost
see their last goodbye.

-A recent attempt at poetry-making. I am not good in writing poems, never was but hopefully not never will.

Entitled さよなら, because it sounds sadder than its English counterpart. I added what I think would have been it’s English title since a sky with no stars really depicts a sad scene. For me, at least.
