Drabble.02

It wasn’t supposed to end this way, he thought with regret as he looked into the coffee shop’s glass windows from afar. She was sitting at her favorite table, the one at the far corner of the shop where she could be alone with her thoughts, or even a book or two.

Yet that day she wasn’t alone. There was a man sitting opposite her. He wore a smile so wide it was as if he won the jackpot in some lottery.

And he really won, he thought.

He won when I gave up my claim to the grand prize.

Drabble.01

You sit beside me. As you do, a frenzy begins in my head. Questions such as what should I do, where should I look, should I say hi, hello, what’s up, or hey become a vortex that makes my head ache. My entire body feels like jelly and my heart acts like I’m running for my life. It’s always like this. Cause and effect. You are the cause; I’m the effect.
